MTR finally started a newsletter to keep you in the loop on all things recreation and leisure in the Mountain Towns region.

We love feedback, so please enjoy and also interact. The whole goal is community engagement. Join a trail clean-up day, volunteer to coach, attend a new activity, share with your friends and family.

MT Trails Committee (MTTC)

Second Wednesday of the Month @ 6pm

We meet in person at the Londonderry Town Offices (100 Old School St) and on ZOOOOOOM!

We have a lot of amazing trails in our “backyards”. What has started as a chance for trail entities to communicate with each other, is steadily growing. Our meetings are open to the public and like the theme of this newsletter, the more that participate, the more we can accomplish. From just the last meeting alone, we are hosting a 5k fun run, Nov. 1st (just keep reading…) and MTR is applying for a grant to get a grant to study our region’s trails and look at how to connect our resources and grow our area’s recreational economy. Either of those sound cool to you? Then we’ll see you in person or on zoom this October 14th @ 6pm!

Running of the Dead - Nov 1st

MTR is helping Friends of the West River Trail host a costume encouraged 5k loop run starting and ending at the South Londonderry Depot on Sunday, November 1st. Check-in begins at 11am. Race begins at 12pm. Join us afterwards at the Depot (34 West River St) for some Day of the Dead shenanigans. Register at the link below.

NEW COURTS ARE COMING!

Demo has begun and Pingree Park use is slightly limited. Please respect the orange tape and be alert around heavy machinery. The new courts will be poured before winter. Once the temps are consistently warm enough in the Spring, the playing surface will be finalized and the courts will be open for play.

There will be 1 tennis court w/ 4 pickleball courts, just like we’re used to AND there will also be two dedicated pickleball courts in addition.

We are looking for donations to help offset the Londonderry Taxpayer burden as we know these courts are used by many folks who live outside of Londonderry. If you appreciate these new courts and don’t already pay taxes in Londonderry, please consider donating to help the cause.

Even though I am the only direct staff at MTR, I will very often write “we” because MTR is not just me. It’s any and all of us who want to come together and build our community. Please join “us”.

LONDONDERRY TOWN HALL RENOVATION

The crawl space has been weatherized. The windows have been resurrected with storms added. The architect has given us modern drawings and plans for the future phases. The general contractor has set their sights on our final project of 2026.

If all goes to plan, we will have an insulated attic by the New Year, which means we can host winter events without burning an entire dinosaur daily!
